CAA Basic

Basic membership cardA CAA Basic membership offers basic protection for the following services:

Towing

In the event of a breakdown where roadside assistance is unable to get your vehicle mobile, a CAA Basic membership covers you for towing to the nearest Roadside Assistance facility rendering the service, or to any point en route, or five kilometres from point of breakdown in any direction. (Note: Collision towing is covered through SGI in Saskatchewan, but may be covered by CAA/AAA in other provinces or states.)

Lock & Key Service

If your keys are lost, broken or locked in your vehicle, CAA Basic will cover you for up to $50 for locksmithing parts and labour, and also towing service, if necessary.

Extrication Service

CAA Basic will assist you when your vehicle is stuck, provided it can be safely reached with conventional towing equipment. Service is limited to one truck and one driver.

Other Services

CAA Basic also provides you with the following services:

  • Battery boosts
  • Tire changes – replacement with your inflated spare
  • Fuel deliveries – delivery of gas, diesel or water (you must pay for gas and diesel)

CAA Service Reimbursement

If you request CAA service and it is unavailable, you may pay for your own service and submit the original receipt to CAA Saskatchewan within 30 days. Reimbursement will be made at the prevailing commercial rate for the region where the vehicle was disabled.

When CAA service is available, but alternate service is obtained, reimbursement will be based on the club contract rate for the area where the disablement occurred. In instances where CAA contractor access is legally restricted (i.e., toll roads or limited access highways), full reimbursement will be provided for covered services.

Trip Accident Assistance

If your vehicle is disabled for more than 24 hours as a result of a traffic accident or collision 160 kilometres or more from home, you will be reimbursed up to $300 for food, lodging or alternate commercial transportation home or to your point of destination.

  • The accident must be reported to the local police and/or your insurance company.
  • Costs incurred within 72 hours of the time of the accident are eligible for reimbursement.
  • Your claim must be submitted to CAA within 60 days. Original receipts are required for refund consideration and must be supplied with the Trip Accident Assistance application form available from any CAA office.

Travel Accident Insurance

Included in your Basic membership is $100,000 coverage for loss of life when travelling by scheduled airline, ship, bus or train with tickets purchased at any CAA Travel Agency Saskatchewan office. For round-trip travel, coverage begins when you leave your residence and continues until you return home.

CAA Basic Members are covered for $3,000 in the first year, increasing to a maximum of $5,000 by the fifth year of continuous membership, in case of death, loss of sight, or dismemberment as a result of an accident as a pedestrian or in a motor vehicle, plane, ship, public transport, or farm machines designed to be ridden upon. Complete details of the benefits provided can be found in the policy you received when you joined the Club or you can request a certificate of insurance from any CAA office.
