Important Notes

  • If you do not request roadside assistance through the CAA number, any service provided will be considered for reimbursement based on the CAA contracted rates for that area. For reimbursement, you must provide the original receipt within 30 days of the date of service. Please include your membership number, date, nature, and location of service. If CAA service is not available within a reasonable time period, reimbursement for alternative service is based on prevailing commercial rates for the region and a full reimbursement will be made where CAA/AAA service is legally restricted. CAA Members seeking reimbursement are informed that they must request service through CAA.
  • All services require the Member to be with the vehicle.
  • Memberships go with the person, not the vehicle, and cannot be transferred to another person.

Towing Restrictions

In fairness to all Members, roadside assistance is not to be used as a substitute for proper vehicle maintenance. To ensure we meet our Members' expectations, CAA Saskatchewan has set reasonable limitations and regulations in the interest of all Members.

To protect our Members and to keep membership costs at a reasonable level, towing will be provided to the nearest roadside assistance facility rendering the service or to any point en route, or five kilometres (three miles) from point of breakdown in any direction (160 km for CAA Plus Members). A Member requiring more than four roadside assistance calls in a membership year will be charged for the fifth and succeeding calls.

Services Not Covered

  • Towing as a result of fire, theft, damage or motor vehicle accident where insurance company or third party pre-empts CAA towing
  • Towing when in violation of the law
  • Towing or servicing of an abandoned or dismantled vehicle
  • Repairs, parts or labour
  • Repeated towing or servicing of a vehicle in need of maintenance or repairs
  • Towing of unregistered vehicles
  • Service to taxi cabs and limousines
  • Delivery of propane or compressed natural gas (vehicle will be towed)
  • Vehicles equipped with an alcohol interlock system that has been violated
  • Towing from an SGI compound.
  • CAA Saskatchewan cannot service or tow your vehicle when you are not present - except in extenuating circumstances acceptable to CAA Saskatchewan.

Eligibility

Any Member who presents their valid membership card and is driving or travelling in a vehicle is eligible for service. Your CAA membership covers you, not your vehicle, and is non-transferable. Service is not available to non-Members, relatives, spouses or friends, nor will it be rendered to an unattended vehicle. If circumstances (acceptable to CAA) prevent you from being present, you must advise the Club that a representative will present your card when the tow truck driver arrives. Your representative may be required to produce two additional pieces of identification.

Four-wheeled motor driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure or recreational type regardless of licence designation are eligible for service, if those services can be safely delivered. Dual-wheel campers/motor homes qualify for full service except for towing/extrication and tire service. Dual-wheel unloaded pick-ups qualify for all services except tire service. Full service for these vehicles is available through CAA Plus RV coverage. The Club or its contractor may refuse to tow an unregistered vehicle. Recovery of light duty trailers (excluding fifth wheel trailers) being towed at time of disablement can be provided at your expense.

Accessibility

The vehicle in need of roadside assistance must be accessible on or near a maintained road. This excludes beaches, vacant lots, private logging roads, frozen lakes and any other hard-to-reach place requiring special equipment. Roadside assistance cannot be rendered to a vehicle that is snowbound in a driveway, lane or street.

Service Availability

Service delays are sometimes unavoidable due to heavy demands during unusual weather conditions. If you are unable to reach CAA, you may call the nearest available source of service. For reimbursement consideration, you must provide the original receipt within 30 days of the date of service. Please include your membership number, date, nature and location of service.

The rules and regulations of roadside assistance are subject to change. If you have any questions, please contact the office nearest you.
