It's Time to Nominate and Vote in CAA's 2025 Worst Roads Campaign

It's Time to Nominate and Vote in CAA's 2025 Worst Roads Campaign

It’s a sure sign of spring when the weather warms up and the snow and ice start to melt. It also means the return of our annual CAA Worst Roads campaign!

Saskatchewan is a land-locked province and has over 250,000 km of roads, more than any other province. That’s a lot of roads to cover, which is why CAA’s Worst Roads campaign exists: To offer road users the opportunity to nominate and vote for the roads that are a safety concern to themselves and others.

This major advocacy and safety campaign for CAA Saskatchewan is directed at motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and passengers. We want you to nominate and vote for your worst, unsafe roads from April 8th to April 29th, 2025, at caask.ca/worstroads. One vote per road (per road user) in a 24-hour period is acceptable. The CAA 2025 Top Ten Worst Roads will be announced on April 30, 2025. CAA Saskatchewan will award one $1,000 (one thousand dollars) Shell Gift Card through a random draw from all eligible votes. The winner’s name will be drawn on April 30th, 2025. Click here for contest details

During the 4-week campaign, we will share images and concerns from road users across the province who say they have the worst, unsafe roads. Once again, this year our team at CAA was on the road with our Worst Roads Roving Reporter.

Our first stop of the campaign takes us to Moose Jaw – a city that claimed four of the top ten spots on last year’s CAA 2024 Top Ten Worst Roads. The results show that people in the community care about safety and the roads they drive on each day. Residents we spoke with appreciate that city crews work hard each year to repair the roads but want to point out and draw attention to specific roads like 13th Ave NW (number 9 on the CAA 2024 Worst Roads Top 10 list) that remain a safety concern year after year. Click here for interview.

Future road user interviews will appear weekly on the CAA Saskatchewan YouTube channel to spotlight other roads that made the CAA 2024 Top 10 Worst Roads list.

CAA Saskatchewan’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn will be utilized to promote the campaign for worst roads nominations and votes.

The CAA Worst Roads site includes a Google Map Locater that will visualize vote distribution across the province. It will pinpoint the current locations of the nominated roads that are receiving votes. Weekly news releases will be provided by CAA listing the current top ten worst roads. Road user interviews will also be updated each week.

Potholes and crumbling pavement have been the most prominent safety issues during the CAA Worst Roads campaigns. However, cracks, general disrepair, poor signage, congestion, and unsafe infrastructure have also been identified by road users.

CAA Worst Roads is an online engagement campaign aimed at drawing attention to our province’s worst, unsafe roads. At the end of the campaign, reports of roads voted on are distributed to government and business leaders in hopes of sparking conversation and action.

Working towards better roads and safety for all road users is a priority for CAA Saskatchewan.
